Update on 2026 ISR rules and Cor PowerSports policies
With race season approaching and everyone preparing their sleds and gear, we share some information. Some items are to reinforce existing rules, while others are new for this season. These items are taken directly from the 2026 ISR Rulebook or the 2026 Cor PowerSports Race Series handbook. In the 2026 ISR Rulebook, ANY new rules for this season are in BOLD to identify them.
Stock class snowmobile rules:
In stock and stock- based classes, no change or modification is allowed unless specifically allowed by these rules. If these rules do not specifically allow a change or modification, then it must be assumed that the change or modification is not allowed.
Identification Numbers-all classes:
Drivers must wear the race number assigned to them by Cor PowerSports. It is the drivers’ responsibility to have their assigned race number on their back as well as on their machine and legible. Numbers that are not legible may not be scored. NO duplicate numbers or letter designation of a number will be allowed.
All classes will be required to run white background with black numbers or black background with white numbers on both sides of the snowmobile, on the windshield. ALL sleds must run Hi Viz yellow numbers.
Helmets:
All helmets must provide full protective coverage and meet the Snell Foundation's 2025 certification standards. Helmets with the 2020 Snell certification will be permitted for this season to accommodate availability during the transition period. Helmets certified under the European ECE 22.06 standard are also approved.
(We made the first notification that ECE 22.05 would not be legal for the 2026 race season on May 2, 2024, through social media and mass email. This was the one-year ISR notification of a significant rule change.)
Tunnel serial numbers:
If you have a sled wrap on your snowmobile, you MUST cut the portion where your stamped tunnel serial number is located. This is mandatory for verification purposes in the tech process.
Pre-tech inspection:
Drivers must bring their helmet, chest protector, and other safety gear to pre-tech. Tech will “mark” your machine when it passes tech and the helmet. Riders MUST arrive at pre-tech with ALL safety equipment; you will not be pre-teched without all proper safety gear.
Fuel Jug:
All Classes: LC style fuel jug is the only approved fuel container for fueling at fuel stops. Open class can utilize a dry break style fuel can. However, if used the sled must be equipped with the proper dry break receiver system. (Captive venting)
We have received questions on changing clutch roller size, clutch roller design (2-roller vs 3-roller), and lightweight spring cups.

Stock / Factory class, the rules specify under the Drive section (Page 23):

1. Must have original OEM drive clutch and driven clutch (torque converter) as supplied by the manufacturer for that make and model.

2. Any springs, weights or ramps may be used. No clutch engagement RPM limit.

3. No machining on clutches to accommodate

springs and weights.

4. In the primary clutch, any commercially available ramps, weights, or springs may be used.

5. Secondary clutch cams may be cut to any angle. Billet helixes allowed.

6. No overdrive machining.

Changing the roller size or design (from 2 to 3 rollers) or switching to a lightweight spring cup effectively alters the concept or design of the secondary clutch as manufactured by each company. These items are not tuning devices, which, as described in the ISR rules, include a ramp, weight, spring, and shim.
