Leech Lake 200 event update

Leech Lake 200 event update

We had a meeting with the Leech Lake 200 group today and wanted to pass along some important information for the event:

  • The Walker group will be plowing a 10-11 mile course for the race with plans to be 30 feet wide minimum, due to the hard drifts currently on the lake plowing is something needed to be done for safety

  • Trappers Landing has a couple rooms still available for the event, call 218-836-2500 to grab one of those amazing rooms

  • Quiet hours Friday and Saturday night 7pm – 7am, again as we did in Park Rapids we instituted quiet hours at night to be respectful of the homeowners in the area. Violating quiet hours will have a severe penalty for the racer.

  • 10 mph speed limit on the ice roads, NO EXCEPTIONS! Speed limits on the ice roads is part of the Trappers Resort policy for the ice roads and we are not exempt from that. ANY vehicles violating this speed limit policy will receive a verbal warning for first offense and if there is a second offense you will not be allowed to drive your vehicle on the ice road.

  • Awards will be trackside, heads up races we will do a podium photo after sleds clear tech. Combined timed races will be able to pick up awards one hour after race is completed at the Cor PowerSports trailer. If we can coordinate all 3 riders to come to the trailer at the same time we can do a podium picture but with riders running multiple classes this is not always possible

  • NO speed testing on ice roads with your snowmobiles, the 10-mph speed limit for ice roads will apply to snowmobiles as well as UTV’s & ATV’s. There will be a designated area for you to test

  • Driver check-in will be 6-8pm Friday night upstairs in the lodge, Saturday morning 7-8am at Cor PowerSports trailer

We are guests of Trappers Landing and need to be respectful of their customers, ice roads are an integral part of their winter operations so obey the speed limits they have on the ice roads and be courteous to the ice fisherman using these roads. The racecourse will be routed to not cross any ice roads but be routed in a way that is very spectator friendly, the entire course this year will be in the bay directly in front of Trappers so everything will stay closer to the pits and spectators.

Ice report this week from Trappers was 25 inches plus so pit parking on the lake will not be an issue for any rig, we will be releasing the event day schedule closer to the race which will have a map for parking as the location is changed for this year.

We appreciate everyone’s help and look forward to the series being back in Walker, MN February 22-23, 2025

Race registration is currently open on the website at www.corpowersports.com and will close at 6pm on Wednesday February 19.
