Heartland 200 postponed

The 2024 winter has definitely been one for the record books but for racing as an industry it has been nothing but challenges and hurdles around every corner, as a series we have been busy working with our existing venues and our alternate locations since November on plans as the weather forecasts showed unseasonably warm weather.

With the weather we also have to work very closely with local law enforcement and DNR agencies to ensure we are doing everything to provide a safe environment not only for our racers but the fans that attend our events. With that we have been working closely with our host venues on ice conditions, last Friday we were onsite in Park Rapids, MN to work with the Heartland 200 group and check ice conditions in 20 different spots on Fish Hook Lake to record ice thickness for our event permits.

With the information from Friday’s checks the group went out today as we were very close to being where we are required to be, per our event insurance and permits a pre-determined thickness and quality of ice is required and unfortunately we just are not where we need to be yet for the event to move forward as scheduled.

With looking at the weather for the remainder of this week we will not be losing any ice but we also will only gain a minimal amount overnight so as a group it has been decided to post-pone the Heartland 200 to a date in February yet to be determined.

The Park Rapids Chamber has sent out a notification to all the host hotels and event sponsors that the event is in the process of being moved to a new date and that we plan to have the new date finalized in the next couple of days.

As an organization we have to put safety as number one and things are just not where they need to be for the series and Heartland 200 committee to move forward with the race as scheduled.

All race entries will be carried over to the new race date, if you would like to cancel your registration and receive a refund in full please email Todd at Todd@CorPowerSports.com and we will process that immediately.

We appreciate everyone’s support as we work through these logistics for the race schedule, as soon as the new date is secured we will send out a notification.
