Goodridge / Grygla I-500 race week!!

It is Goodridge/Grygla I-500 race week!!

It has been two years since we have been able to say that, and with that gap since the 500 last ran, there have been a lot of questions this past week:

Friday:

  • Pre-tech: ALL sleds must come to pre-tech on Friday, noon-5 pm, at the scoring trailer; we will not impound this year on Friday night. NO pre-tech on Saturday morning.
  • Driver check-in: Driver check-in will be from 4 to 6 pm at the Goodridge Lions Hall. ALL drivers must check in with their two crew members to receive passes for the hot pits (staging, mechanic area, mechanic session). ALL drivers will pick chips for their starting order. Pro Factory and Pro Factory Women’s riders will pull their chips later during the drivers' meeting, as we announce their starting order.
  • Friday night meet and greet: From 5-7 pm, there will be an autograph session. We ask that all Pros, at a minimum, be engaged in this session, but other racers can also participate.
  • Drivers Meeting: 7 pm at Goodridge Lions Hall. We will broadcast the Pro Factory and Pro Factory Women racers live on Facebook as they pick their chips for their starting order. We will also go over the Saturday race route, refuel procedures, impound, and the mechanics session.

Saturday:

  • 7-8 am sleds move to staging
  • 8:15 riders meeting, will we go over GPS trackers
  • 8:30 am anthems
  • 9 am start, one sled every 15 seconds
  • All classes park in the impound area as directed by series officials when they pull off the track. Jr 10-13, Jr 10-13 girls, Classic, Vintage 1-lap. No impound, so you can return to your trailers.
  • You CANNOT touch the sled while it is in impound. Do not remove panels or flip the sled to inspect it. You can look at the machine, but you cannot touch the sled.
  • First mechanic session (Pro and Semi Pro) 2-3 pm, Second mechanic session (all other classes) 3:30- 4:30
  • Two mechanics are allowed to work on a sled during the mechanic session. Only two people are allowed per sled in the mechanic session area.
  • Power tools are allowed. You can replace broken components (ski, carbides, a-arm, spindle, clutch components), but you cannot replace assemblies. You can replace broken clutch springs, weights, and helix, but you cannot change the clutch assembly. You can take assemblies back to your trailer to use with specialty tools, but you must check out with a series official from the mechanic area. The official will mark the assembly. When you return, go to the same official to get checked back in with the assembly for verification.
  • After the mechanic sessions, sleds report to the impound area. Once sleds are parked in impound, they cannot be touched again until Sunday.
  • Saturday night, drivers meeting at Lions Hall at 5 pm

Sunday

  • 7-8 am sleds move to staging
  • 8:15 riders meeting
  • 8:30 national anthems
  • 9 am racing starts
  • Top 5 pros leave based on time from day 1. All remaining racers leave one sled every 15 seconds.
  • Jr 10-13, Jr 10-13 girls, Classic, Vintage 1 lap
  • Once all sleds finish, they park in the impound for post tech. Once cleared by the series official, you can return to your trailer.
  • Sunday awards TBD. Will announce a tentative time for Sunday awards at the drivers' meeting Saturday night.

We look forward to everyone participating in the 60th anniversary of the 500, including the Goodridge Trailblazers and the Fourtown Grygla Snowmobile Club, for all their work and dedication to hosting this event.

Race registration closes Wednesday, February 11, at 6 pm Do not wait and get signed up today!
