2026 ISR and series rule update

Last week we posted on social media for all racers to read their 2026 Cor PowerSports Handbook and 2026 International Snowmobile Racing (ISR) rulebook so they are prepared for the upcoming race season as there are a few updates.

Shortly after that post the ISR website had a server issue so racers were unable to access the new rulebook, that issue has now been resolved and you can head over to https://isrracing.org/ to view the 2026 ISR rulebook.

Here are some of the changes for the 2026 season both on the ISR side as well as the Cor PowerSports Race Series side-

ISR:

General Competition Rules - Page 17

  • Fuel Jug/Container rules -All Classes: LC style fuel jug is the only approved fuel container for fueling at fuel stops. Open class can utilize a dry break style fuel can. However, if used the sled must be equipped with the proper dry break receiver system. (Captive venting)

Cor PowerSports:

All Improved Stock class rules follow Stock rules with the following:

  • OEM stock chassis

  • OEM bore and stroke for make and model, no internal motor modifications allowed

  • Bolt on performance parts (i.e., pipes, exhaust can, ECU tuner, etc.) allowed

Specialty classes:

Team Class

  • (EFI non snocross STOCK snowmobiles (Factory class rules), up to 600cc liquid cooled, 1.25” track lug height)

  • (1 Pro rider per team, same two riders all season to qualify for year end points)

Year End Awards

  • To qualify for year end points you MUST be a season member, compete in 80% of races (if 8 point races then you need to compete in 7 races), one race will be a throw-out (lowest point earning round, not a skipped race), the I-500 race cannot be used as a throw-out. A disqualification cannot be used as a throw out.

These are just some of the updates; ultimately, it is the racers' responsibility to read and understand all applicable rules for the classes they are competing in.

Another question we have been getting this past week is “The rules do not say we cannot run this part, so are we allowed or not?”

Page 20 of the ISR rulebook under Stock Snowmobile Rules states on the very first line:

“In stock and stock- based classes, no change or modification is allowed unless specifically allowed by these rules. If these rules do not specifically allow a change or modification, then it must be assumed that the change or modification is not allowed.”

In other words, for stock or factory-based classes, if it DOES NOT say you can change it, then you are NOTallowed to change it.

The rider number list was updated this morning. If you were a member in 2025 and plan to race in 2026 but haven't sent in your 2026 Cor PowerSports membership, your number is NOT reserved!

There will be NO duplicate numbers allowed at any event. If you show up and haven't checked the current race number list, and if you have a season member's number on your sled, you will be required to change your number. There are NO exceptions; this is a safety issue because your race number is the only way EMS, spotters, and series officials can quickly identify you.

Sign up today to reserve your preferred race number. This benefit is only available to season members. If you're planning to race in just one event, send us a message the week prior to confirm the number you'll use for that event.
